Are anti-wrinkle treatments safe and what do they involve?
A certain drug is used that weakens or temporarily paralyses muscles. In small doses, it is safe and can help reduce skin wrinkles, provide cosmetic benefits and treat some medical conditions. It is a protein made from Botulinum toxin, which the bacterium Clostridium botulinum produces. This is the same toxin that causes botulism.
The injections target the nervous system, disrupting the nerve signalling processes that stimulate muscle contraction. This is how the drug causes temporary muscle paralysis.
While it is commonly used to treat fine lines, it can also be beneficial to help treat the pain in TMJ. We have treated many patients in North Brisbane who have suffered from night clenching and grinding with anti-wrinkle treatments to relief discomfort and tightness in the muscle.

To ensure an optimal and long lasting result, a top-up treatment is recommended 6-12 months after your initial treatment.
Are dermal fillers painful?
We provide topical anesthetic gel to numb the area and the option of local anesthetic for those that need it. The injections themselves feel like a slight pinch, and you may experience slight pressure or a ‘stinging’ sensation as the product is being injected. Additionally, the fillers also contain local anesthetic to make the treatment even more pain-free.
